Hertel employees support Help for Heroes

Employees at Hertel in the UK and Ireland have helped to raise more than £14,000 for armed forces charity Help for Heroes.

Each year more than 2,500 employees at Hertel are offered a free turkey at Christmas. This year the company teamed up with Iceland Foods to fulfil the offer through its stores, and Hertel agreed that any money remaining from the offer should be donated to charity. As a result, £14,568 was donated to Help for Heroes this February.

Help for Heroes directly supports service personnel who are wounded serving their country in current conflicts. David Fitzsimons, Hertel Management Board Director UK & Ireland, handed over the cheque to Ian Williams, Merseyside Local Co-ordinator.

Fitzsimons said: “Help for Heroes is a deserving charity, and I am pleased to hand over this donation on behalf of our employees. We wish the charity every success in 2011, and hope our donation will be the first of many to support this good cause.”

Dave Roberts, Merseyside Volunteer County Co-ordinator said: “We thank all of the Hertel staff for their support with this wonderful donation. The money we raise helps those injured in the line of duty to receive the very best treatment, aid recovery and support the members of the Armed Forces.”
