Hertel takes over CKT Projects


Hertel has taken over CKT Projects. CKT Projects used to be part of the ICS group. Hertel strengthens her position in the offshore and defence industry with this strategic takeover.

CKT Projects is known in the offshore and defence industry for the engineering and construction of special modular units. In addition, CKT constructs crane houses for port cranes. The company was founded in 1925. The turnover in 2004 was approx. 10 million Euro. CKT employs 20 staff. CKT has its construction facilities in the Waalhaven in Rotterdam and in Dubai (United Emirates).

Within Hertel is CKT part of Hertel Marine Services. Hertel Marine Services employs 65 staff. Hertel Marine Services designs, supplies and installs architectural outfitting for the shipbuilding, naval and offshore industry.

Joost Knoll, CEO of Hertel Holding: ‘This takeover fits within our goal to extend and enhance the level of engineering of Hertel Marine Services. The takeover creates a company that is experienced in the execution of the work but which is also capable to perform the complete engineering of living areas on board of vessels and platforms’.

The first order has been received and in progress. On the ‘De Ruyter Project’, which Heerema Zwijndrecht executes for Petro-Canada, is the construction of eight completely outfitted modules done by CKT. Hertel Marine Services supplies and installs the remaining architectural outfitting of the platform, including the blast- and firewalls. The work is performed at the yard of Heerema in Zwijndrecht. The total contract value is three million Euro.
