Open for business
Dow Chemicals in King’s Lynn, UK, recently opened its doors to the local community with a site open day.
The event on Saturday 21 April was an opportunity for friends and families of workers, as well as community partners, to take a tour of the plant and see what the chemical manufacturer does and how the work carried out is invaluable in creating everyday products.
Hertel has worked at King’s Lynn since 1999 and was keen to get involved. Mark Dalgarno, Operations Manager East Anglia, Angela Jones, Area Administrator, and, supported by Bev Dalgarno, Site Administrator at ConocoPhillips in Seal Sands, were all on hand to help.
At Dow Chemicals, Hertel provides a range of disciplines including scaffolding, insulation and civils. Through work with sub-contractors, its responsibilities extend to labour supply, water coolers and support services.
Mark Dalgarno says: “With the long association Hertel has with the site the open day helped us to reinforce our position within the local community and show the value that we bring to the area. The event was a huge success and many people took away information.”

Hertel scores twice at Bayer Antwerp
Bayer Antwerp appointed Hertel as the general contractor for the shutdown of its Aniline plant that is scheduled to take place this autumn. Next to that, Hertel was awarded a four year contract for all trace heating maintenance work at the Antwerp plant.

Thursday 4th May saw the official opening of Hertel’s fabrication facility for the Gorgon Project, Western Australia.
