Hertel fortifies its strategic position
Hertel took over German general mechanical contractor MWL and proces equipment company Apparatebau Grimma.
Montagewerk Leipzig, Montagewerk Dresden and Apparatebau Grimma are known as the MWL group. This company specialises in the construction and maintenance of (petro)chemical, power and procesinstallations. MWL has approximately 600 employees and is active throughout Europe. The take over is an important strategic move in the development of the Hertel group.
CEO Hertel Holding, Joost Knoll: ‘This take over optimises our capability to serve our clients during the total life cycle of their installations. Until recently Hertel mainly specialised in maintenance and project services, now we control the whole process, from detailed engineering and construction to maintenance of industrial installations. This fits within our strategy to develop our company to an industrial total service provider and support our customers in their aim to reduce the number of contractors involved in project and maintenance work.’
The MWL group has excellent training facilities for craftsmen at their disposal. Each year MWL trains a number of craftsmen for various professions, together with the Bundesstaat Saksen. Hertel will establish its trainings and education centre in Leipzig to school craftsmen in various expertise.

Hertel Marine Services receives order of EUR 30 million
Allseas has awarded Hertel Marine Services the contract for the delivery of a complete accommodation unit, including steel structure, required for the conversion of the bulk carrier Geeview into the pipelay vessel 'Audacia' . The contract value is EUR 30 million.
