A landmark of 12 months representing 140,523 hours without a recordable injury has been achieved by workers at the Cristal pigment plant in Stallingborough, North East Lincolnshire.
To mark the event a special presentation was held at the site where Barry Ilott, the site SHE Manager told the 65 strong Hertel team that “A year without a recordable incident is a fantastic achievement - whatever you are doing keep it up!”

The team from Hertel UK working at the Magnox’s Wylfa Site has registered more than 2 million man hours without a lost-time incident.
Dating back almost 12 years to August 2002, the safe working period has included 10 major shutdowns, when one of the station’s two reactors are taken down annually for an overhaul. There have also been more than 100 individual projects over this period.
These are in addition to the routine maintenance schedules Hertel works on and can see the core team of 60 grow to 100.

The highest recognition for safe working at the Drax power station has been awarded to Hertel UK.
A gold award for safe working was presented by Peter Emery, Production Director at the annual Drax safety seminar to Graham Little, Hertel’s site Operations Manager.

In October 2012, the European Union amended its energy efficiency action plan. The amended guidelines require twenty percent of each member states' energy use to consist of renewable energy by 2020. Further, they also require member states to produce a programme of 'regular energy audits' of large companies and enforce it.
