The benefits of the R&D work carried out by Hertel can be seen in the patented technology used in our pre-fabricated modular accommodation. The unique transfer technology used allows modules to be commissioned quickly and safely. Elsewhere in the modules, services are designed with a ‘plug and play’ philosophy. Furthermore, maintenance is kept to a minimum by being designed out and through intelligent engineering.

In terms of the materials we use, we work very closely with manufacturers in the development of manufactured materials. This relationship is not only at the design stage, but right down to the factory floor. This ensures the products we use are fit for purpose, increasing their lifespan by optimal durability and simultaneously providing an attractive environment for the end users.

When it comes to specialist expertise, we work with external technical institutions and universities to gain access to the latest research. An example of this is the blast proof accommodation we have developed in partnership with a niche-engineering specialist in The Netherlands. This blast proof accommodation is now in use on-site at two of the biggest refineries in Europe.

This commitment to R&D ensures that we are continuously improving not only our products but also the knowledge and expertise of our people.
