BRMs provide safe workplaces in factories
In May this year Hertel Offshore delivered the second modular Blast Resistant Module (BRM) to BP Refinery, Rotterdam. The modules can withstand a major explosion, thereby offering a safe and versatile workplace.
The modules provide extremely safe shelter. This means that a BRM can be set up in the middle of a refinery's production process. This offers substantial logistical benefits. The functionality and quality of the versatile units were thoroughly considered by using high-quality materials.
The BRMs at BP consist of six connected 4.5 x 18 metre units built as modules (in sections). Every year there is a turnaround at one of BP's four production plants (major maintenance). These plants are quite far apart. Since these modules can be moved quickly, they can alternate between the plants.
