Turnaround at Vermilion's Garijp Treatment Centre
In July 2011, Hertel was commissioned by Vermilion to perform insulation and scaffolding work during the turnaround of its Garijp treatment facility.
Vermilion produces natural gas at various sites on the mainland, throughout the province of Friesland and Noord-Holland. The produced is transported by a pipeline gathering system to three gas treatment facilities. At these facilities the gas is conditioned prior to transfer to Gasunie, the operator of the national gas distribution system.
Integrated and fast approach
Vermilion and Hertel drew up a detailed scaffolding plan together, so that all the scaffolding was ready before the start of the turnaround project. Around 10,000 m³ of scaffolding was constructed. It was known in advance that the insulation work (mostly cold insulation) would have to be carried out in a very short time frame. A thorough action plan, work preparation and scheduling ensured that the insulation work could be performed flawlessly. The final work was completed in early December, to Vermilion's full satisfaction.
