Hertel Modern safety shines platinum award
Hertel Modern, based in Perth, WA, has been recognised for its high safety standards by becoming one of a select number of companies that have been awarded the IFAP/CGU Platinum Safe Way Achiever Award.
The Industrial Foundation for Accident Prevention (IFAP) is a non-profit organisation focused on health and safety and risk management. It runs an annual awards scheme and presents the platinum award to companies who have won gold awards for five years in a row.
To attain the platinum award Hertel Modern has to demonstrate that it meets specific performance standards and auditable criteria across its operations and the many sites where it works.
Peter Capone, Hertel Modern’s Corporate Manager health, safety, environment and community (HSEC), says: “The award has commended us for our continued dedication to safety and our commitment to maintaining the welfare of everyone who comes in contact with its operations.
“Thorough safety risk assessments, in which we involve employees, sub-contractors suppliers and clients, are carried out on every project to minimise risk to the lowest practicable levels.
Peter continues: “Continuous improvement is also an important part of our philosophy. Adopting open reporting, monitoring of key performance indicators and analysis of safety performance may sometimes lead to the modification of practices and systems.”
Hertel Modern had received four IFAP Gold Safe Achievement Awards in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.
The company was recently awarded a painting, insulation and fireproofing services Chevron’s Gorgon LNG project.
