Mega project takes shape

Impressive, smart and professional, these words best describe the works that Hertel carries out on the Everest project for Woodgroup in the United Kingdom.

Last year Hertel was awarded the order for the delivery of a 5 storey accommodation module. The first two floors are fully equipped with Transit Lounge, Switch Room, Gymnasium, TV Lounge and Cinema; the other three will provide sleeping accommodation.

In order to save costs for the customer, Hertel thought of a way to minimise offsite work. The accommodation module is built in the Dawson’s Wharf yard in the Teesside area. The yard is unique in its kind, the only in Europe, that can handle extreme heights and widths and its location nearby road, water and rail transport makes it possible to fabricate, commission and decommission the modules in the yard. This way, everything can be tested on site and work offshore is limited to rebuilding and commissioning the modules again.

The module is expected to be ready by September 2010.
