The new regional headquarters for Hertel in the North West of England is an example of a company that is investing and creating jobs according to Weaver Vale MP Graham Evans.

Mr Evans, speaking at the headquarters’ official opening this week, said: “This area was built on the success of chemical industry and to have businesses like Hertel relocate and create new jobs is excellent news.”

Hertel currently employs around 500 in the region with 40 working at the new office. It is the UK subsidiary of the Dutch-based Hertel Group working in the oil & gas, power and process industries providing services including scaffolding, insulation, painting and mechanical.

The company opened an office in the North West 25 years ago in Bold, near St Helens, when it started providing maintenance at the Stanlow refinery, where it still works.

Mr Evans added: “It is also encouraging to meet with a company that believes in training and development of its workforce which is so important in building successful businesses.”

In addition to Stanlow, Hertel works at the petrochemical plants at Rocksavage in Runcorn and Carrington near Manchester. It also has long-standing contracts at sites across the North West and North Wales including Fiddlers Ferry power station and the nuclear stations at Sellafield, Wylfa and Trawsfynydd.

David Fitzsimons, Managing Director of Hertel UK and Ireland, said: “The opening of the new headquarters represents a team effort of everybody who has worked for us and helped make the business what it is today. We believe that the Preston Brook location is the ideal base from which we will be able to work with with our existing clients and continue to build the business.”
