Sharing knowledge and experience in Access
Safe and efficient access services are a core service of Hertel. In 2004, Hertel introduced a new package of access specialisms in the Netherlands, complementary to the long established scaffolding expertise.
Since then, Hertel have built a strong reputation for alternative access techniques, including rope access, netting systems and mobile platforms.
Working offshore on wind farms and platforms, and onshore on petrochemical and steel plants, these techniques are combined to form the optimal access provision that can improve safety and efficiency.
Quality and safety of such services is essential, and Hertel has long been accredited by and is an active member of the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA) in The Netherlands.
By working together with the Dutch team, IRATA accreditation has now also been achieved by Hertel teams in the UK and Belgium.
In 2010, Hertel entered the UK Offshore market with the establishment of a facility in Aberdeen. Bob Jack, Hertel’s Regional Director North Sea explains: “Achieving the accreditation allows us to further extend our range of services which will mean we are able to build upon our existing partnerships and relationships while forging new ones in exciting new markets and sectors.”
Meanwhile, in the Netherlands the team continues to flourish. Yves Mooren, Access Solutions Manager adds, “Our services have proven to fit well with our core customers. By being able to offer not only the access techniques, but also the multi-disciplinary services that our technicians are trained to provide, we can really add value for our customers.
“Today, we’re busier than ever, working not only in The Netherlands, but also supplying both manpower and expertise to Hertel’s customers throughout the world.”

Hertel begins conversion of Agile accommodation
Agile is a cable-laying vessel that lays flexible pipelines on the seabed at a depth of two kilometres. Over the coming five years, the ship will be working for Petrobras along the Brazilian coast.

The 24 man accommodation module was awarded to Hertel in January 2009 by Woodgroup Engineering on behalf of BG North Everest Project.
Local presence in Aberdeen reaps rewards
Since the opening of our offshore facility in Aberdeen in April 2010 Hertel have been awarded the 3 year maintenance contract for the five CNR platforms in the North Sea.
